The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit on April 21 busted a Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB) den in a house at Porahati village in Jhenidah District, reports The Daily Star. A huge stash of explosives and a 9mm pistol was recovered from the house. The explosives include three suicide vests, a pressure cooker bomb, around 20 plastic containers of bomb-making chemicals and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and detonators. No one was arrested as the suspected militants inside the house had fled before the drive began, said CTTC officials.

RafiqulIslam alias Abu was among the dead. The other three, believed to be Abu's accomplices, were yet to be identified. Police said all the four persons were killed in suicide bomb explosions. Abu's pregnant wife SumaiyaBegum and their six-year-old daughter Khadizawere rescued from the den. Police recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), bombs and pistols from the den.

On April 3, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of RAB began searching the five-storey building for explosive substances and bombs left unexploded. On the day, two bodies of militants were recovered, six days after the end of an army raid in the house. Three floors were cleared till now, said RAB, Director General (DG), Benazir Ahmed, about the progress of the drive at a press briefing at RAB-9 headquarters at South Surma in Sylhet. Police said the prison van came under the attack around 5:30pm while Mufti Hannan and his aides were being taken to Kashimpur jail from a Dhaka court. Two bombs were tossed at the van but those went off on the road missing the target. Police escorting the prison van arrested a young man, Mostafa Kamal (22), from the spot and recovered a bag containing two patrol bombs, two sound grenades, two crude bombs and two machetes. Another attacker fled the scene. The arrested youth reportedly confessed to Police that he exploded the bombs targeting the prison van in exchange for BTK 10,000. The RAB could not immediately identify the bodies. They were unrecognizable due to the powerful blasts. The explosion also put the thatched house they were in on fire. It was completely burned down with the bodies inside. Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), seven detonators, 12 packs of explosives gel and two pistols were recovered from the spot.

Jessore District Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman briefed the media about the raid. The law enforcers cordoned off the house at Pagladaha village in the evening following information from the Police Headquarters. The house's owner Mozaffar Hossain was arrested following the discovery of 30 grenade shells, 50 switches, two magazines for pistols, five rounds of ammunition, blast gel, 10 litres of chemicals, half a kilogram of nails and four knives from the house. The 40-year-old is a homeopathy doctor and imam of the mosque at MM College, said Moniruzzaman, Assistant Inspector General of Police.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 7 said they suspected that Jamat ‘ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) militant Abdullah, who was killed along with six others during an operation at a flat in the Dhaka's Darus Salam, was planning a massive attack on high-rise building, reports Daily Star. These remarks came after the force recovered a model of a high-rise with different kinds of marking from Abdullah's rented flat on the fifth floor of the six-storey building named “Kamol Probha". The RAB official, however, did not disclose any location or details of the high-rise. RAB personnel also recovered 10 big-size bombs and found 30 unique types of "bottle bombs" made with different chemicals, 10kg of gun powder, 50 locally made sharp weapons, and bomb-making materials including sulphur from the flat on September 7. Further, RAB suspended the search operation till morning of September 8. When the operation resumes on September 8 (today), they will search another flat of the house where 23 big refrigerators and many sealed cartoons are still to be checked.RAB officials are now looking for one "Don Bhai" and six others employed by Abdullah. Abdullah disclosed the name of Don to RAB officials during their hours of negotiations with Abdullah about his surrender, RAB officials said.
