Outlawed Ranvir Sena (a private army of landowners in Bihar) chief Brahmeshwar Singh said at a press conference in Patna on May 7 that his outfit planned to extend operations to Jharkhand. Singh, who is said to be the mastermind behind many massacres in Central Bihar, claimed the Ranvir Sena had no dearth of men and weapons, including the sophisticated AK-47. Central Bihar has been witness to armed confrontation between the Ranvir Sena and left-wing extremist, Naxalite groups like the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and the People's War Group (PWG). Singh claimed his outfit had so far 'freed' over 35,000 acres of land from the economic blockade imposed by Naxalites. Warning the Naxalite groups, he said, if the Naxalites committed one act of violence, the Ranvir Sena would retaliate with three. He claimed that the Naxalites, scared of the Ranvir Sena, had fled to Jharkhand. "But we have a unit in Jharkhand as well, and we are concentrating on the new state to take on these lambs who have disguised themselves as lions," Singh said.
