The Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda at a meeting with Nepali Congress (NC) leaders on October 8 floated a proposal to reinstate the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA), reports myrepublica.com. NC leaders responded to Dahal´s proposal saying that they want to hold further discussions before taking a final decision. He also said that the proposal to revive the 601-member body is the better option as it poses less risk. However, majority of former CA members of NC have criticized the party leadership for falling prey to the UCPN-M tactics to go for the CA revival. They have also exerted pressure on the party leadership to agree on CA revival option only if there was written agreement on all contentious issues of new statute.
