Giving details, Karachi-West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Azfar Mahesar said that this was the third attack on traffic police officials in the last one week. According to a Rangers spokesperson, a Rangers team raided a hideout of terrorists on tip-off. He said that the alleged criminals opened fire on the raiding party, and in retaliatory fire, one terrorist identified as Zakir alias Wehshi was killed and his four accomplices were arrested.

Law enforcers foiled a terrorist bid on Defence Day by killing two suspected militants in an exchange of fire in Manghopir area of Gadap Town on September 6, reports The Express Tribune. According to Police officials, the militants first attacked the Police patrolling van when it reached close to their hideout in Manghopir. As a result of the attack, two Policemen, identified as Imran and Haider, were injured. Following the attack, a large contingent of law enforcers was summoned to the site and two militants were killed after an exchange of fire. One of the suspects was identified as Adrak.

Abbas, in addition to working part-time as a driver for Sabeen, was also an employee of the anti-corruption department. Abbas was a prime witness to Sabeen’s murder on April 24, 2015.

The process of geo-tagging, through which the geographical location of the madrassas is marked, has been carried out and the process is likely to be completed soon. So far, 2,122 madrassas have been tagged in Karachi and 1,548 in Hyderabad. The Home Secretary pointed out that there are 9,590 madrassas in Sindh and 6,503 of them have been registered. There are 517,695 students enrolled in the unregistered madrassas. “Geotagging will help us see the exact location of the madrassas,” said Soomro.

Officials in the Home Ministry mentioned in a report sent to the Chief Minister Office that the Ministry of Interior (MoI) had sent some finer points of the organisations to the Province for further action. They stated that the MoI had also sent category-wise sketchy details of the banned groups, which had never become dormant despite having been slapped with repeated bans. A hefty 43 such organisations fall in the ‘A’ category, 12 in ‘B’ category and seven others in ‘C’ category. Referring to the report, the officials said 17 organisations among the 43 had been categorised in the ‘anti-state terrorism (armed and anti-state)’. However, the bank accounts of just one of them have been frozen.

The Police claimed to have seized two hand grenades, one Mauser gun, an MP5 (submachine gun) and a shotgun from his possession. Meanwhile, anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on September 23 remanded two target-killers, affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and identified as Shakeel Baba and Shaikh Ilyas alias Sheru, into Rangers custody on 90-day remand, reports The News. According to Rangers spokesman, the accused have confessed to killing 46 people on political and sectarian grounds. Sheru has confessing to killing DSP Nawaz Ranjha and two Rangers officers.
