At least two Security Force (SF) personnel were killed and one injured when two unidentified militants riding a bike opened fire at a SF Road Protection team in the jurisdiction of Gomal Police Station in Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the night of January 19, reports The Hindu. The SF personnel who died in the firing were identified as Sepoy Khalid and Sepoy Ayaz. The injured personnel was identified as Sepoy Muhammad Ramazan.
Separately, Police foiled a terror attack in Utmankhel area of Bajaur District in KP by killing two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in the night of January 20, reports Samaa TV. According to the Police, they received news from sources that an attack was planned in Utmankhel. Police seized weapons, explosives, IEDs and wireless devices from the operation site.
Meanwhile, the KP Police have registered 516 cases and arrested 751 accused during actions across the province to achieve the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) targets, KP Police chief Sanaullah Abbasi said, The News reported on January 19. As many as 128 accused have been convicted by the courts after their arrest. “A total of Rs252 million have been recovered from the held accused in actions under FATF requirements,” Abbasi said. He added that more targets were achieved during the last year as CTD is aggressively going after those involved in money laundering. The FATF, in a statement in November last year, said Pakistan has made progress across all action plan items and has now largely addressed 21 of the 27 action items. The statement added the FATF strongly urges Pakistan to swiftly complete its full action plan by February 2021.
