One female ‘deputy commander’ and one ‘area committee member (ACM)’ of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), identified as Neela alias Asanteen alias Asontin Uike (33) and Mukesh alias Suklu Gawade (26), surrendered before the Police in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on July 7, reports livehindustan.com. Neela was working as the ‘deputy commander’ of Maoist Platoon No. 2 of Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh (MMC) zone and the 'divisional committee (DVC) secretary’ of Bodla Area Committee of 'Kawardha-Balaghat (KB) Division' of ‘MMC Zone’ carrying a total reward of INR 800, 000 on her head. She was active in the CPI-Maoist of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra along with Bastar in Chhattisgarh since 2003. She has been involved in the killing of more than 50 SF personnel including the 2004 attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp, the 2007 attack on the Police headquarters in Odisha's Nayagarh, the attack on the CRPF personnel in Balimela in Malkangiri of Odisha etc. At the same time, Mukesh was active as the member of the Rawghat Area Committee in North Bastar Division since 2009, carrying a total reward of INR 500, 000 on his head, said, Kanker, Superintendent of Police (SP), Shalabh Sinha.
