Three officials of the customs department were killed after assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on them on Dera-Zhob road near Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on August 9, reports Dawn. Police said the gunmen attacked an anti-smuggling squad of the customs department during routine patrol near Kulachi and escaped. The deceased officials were identified as Farooq Jan, Fahad Bashir and Farooq Khan.
Separately, the Security Forces (SFs) shot dead a commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), carrying a head money of PKR 3 million, during a joint operation on Dera-Daraban road in Dera Ismail Khan District of KP in the evening of August 8, reports Dawn. A Police official said that the commander, identified as Sheikh Waqas alias Khalid, was wanted by Police in several cases, including targeted killing of dozens of people and attacks on Police check posts.
