On March 12, three children sustained injuries in a grenade blast at Chinghan village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh, reports The Sentinel. The incident occurred when the children were reportedly playing with the grenade mistaking it for a toy, which was wrapped in a polythene bag when it went off. According to Assam Rifles (AR), the grenade may have fallen from the hands of the militants while they were passing by the village which is the transit route. Recently on March 6, a group of 12-15 militants of National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) had sneaked into the area from Nagaland following which an operation was launched by troops of the 6 AR and Tirap Police to flush out the group. An exchange of fire took place. The grenade is suspected to have dropped by these militants while fleeing.
