A Joint team of Police, Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) killed a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Shirmal village of Zainapora in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India, reports Daily Excelsior on June 23. During the search operation as the presence of militants got ascertained they were given an opportunity to surrender. However, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounterSecurity Forces (SFs) recovered one pistol with magazine, one grenade and other incriminating materials from the location. Sajad Ahmad Bhat is a resident of Badigam Aishmuqam in Anantnag District and was active in militancy since September 14, 2020 and involved in several cases, said Police official.
