Police on November 23 arrested three The Resistance Front (TRF) linked persons from Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) for the murder of Kashmir Pandit trader’s salesman, reports Kashmir Observer. Aejaz Ahmad Lone, Naseer Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Dar, all residents of Lelhar in Pulwama were arrested by a special investigation team of police constituted to probe the killing of Ibrahim Ahmad, a salesman of Kashmiri Pandit trader Sandeep Mawa in Bohri Kadal area of the Old City in Srinagar on November 9. Police had also filed a case FIR No. 86/2021 at the Maharaj Gunj Police Station to investigate the case. According to the Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations have revealed that the trio linked with TRF have killed Ahmad on the directions of “terrorist handler” from across the border. It was further revealed that the accused have been in touch with Pakistan based handlers for last 4 months. “On their disclosure, weapon of offence - pistol along with 7 rounds and other incriminating materials including a grenade have been recovered from their possession,” the Police spokesperson added. Besides, the Alto car which was used during the commission of crime on the day of attack has also been seized on their disclosure.
Meanwhile, Greater Kashmir quoting official data accessed from Zonal Police Headquarters, Kashmir, reported on November 23 that the graph of militancy related violence in Kashmir is showing decline so far this year as compared to year 2020. From January 2021 to September 22 this year, there have been 76 encounters between militants and Security Forces in Kashmir. official data said during the 76 encounters, 141 militants have been killed, besides two civilians. The data says that four militants have also surrendered during the live encounters in different parts of Kashmir. Official figures revealed that last year till September 22, there were 96 encounters in different parts of Kashmir and as many as 207 militants of different banned militant outfits were killed. However, there was no civilian killings and as many as 12 militants had surrendered during the live encounters. “It is lowest collateral damage in last three decades,” Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar told Greater Kashmir. “All the security agencies are carrying out operations in coordination with aim of minimum collateral damage.”
