Police killed Vishal Sahu, an ‘area commander’ of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), in an encounter in Mudla Toli in Thakurgaon in Ranchi District of Jharkhand on January 23, reports samacharplusjhbr.com. Vishal's squad had reached Thakur village (Thakurgaon) area to collect ‘levy’ (extortion money) from a businessman. Following information, the Police laid siege, then the militants started firing on the Police, and Vishal was killed in retaliatory action, while the rest of Vishal's squad managed to escape.
