On December 24, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) raised the alert status across the country and strengthened security measures, reports Edition. According to a press release by MNDF, the alert status was raised to 'Yellow two' from 1900hrs; these alerts are issued when there is an increased or predictable threat to the security and sovereignty of the country. Military personnel, during the alert period, will stop marine vessels and perform inspections.
