One militant was killed in an exchange of fire with Police near Chakar Hotel near the Super Highway of Malir Town in Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, in the night of May 17, reports Daily Times. Four militants, riding two motorcycles, hurled a hand grenade on a Police mobile near Chakar Hotel. Police chased them and fired shots at them. One of the attackers was killed, while the other three managed to escape. Two Policemen, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hayat and constable Azmat also injured in exchange of fire with militants.
Meanwhile, the Police on May 19 claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in the killing of a Policeman on March 2 in Civil Lines Police Station area of Karachi, reports The News. The Policeman, Jahangir, was killed when two armed assailants on a motorcycle shot him in Hijrat Colony within the limits of the Civil Lines police station. He was shot while he was on an intelligence mission before a combing operation in the area. While one of the attackers who killed the Policeman, Rehan Gul, was already arrested within two weeks of the incident; however, a key suspect, Noor Wali, went underground. Wali continued to move from one place to another as he first escaped to Buner, then Karak and then Kohat, and finally returned to Karachi after the passage of almost two months after the incident. As the Wali returned to Karachi, the Civil Lines Police arrested him on a tip-off and seized arms from his possession.
