A militant was killed while two Army personnel were injured in an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and militants in orchards at Chitragam area in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 10, reports Daily Excelsior. The gunfight broke out in the area after a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. An official said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. “Intermittent exchange was going on till this report was filed,” the official added. The identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
Another encounter broke out in orchards of Simthan village in Bijbehara area in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 10, reports Daily Excelsior. A joint team of Police, Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of at least three militants in the area. Police said there was no fresh contact with the militants after the first exchange of fire, while a massive search operation was going on at Simthan in Bijbehara.
