A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as - Shyamlal alias Motiram Sanku (55), was arrested following an exchange of fire with Security Forces (SFs) in Malkua-Chiklona area of Balaghat District in Madhya Pradesh on March 8, reports Outlook. Shyamlal, a resident of Katjheri in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra, was carrying a combined reward of INR 1.4 million announced by Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra Police.
Acting on a tip-off, a Hawk Force team of Police launched an operation in Malkua-Chiklona forest area, where Maoists numbering between 15 and 20 were camping. An exchange of fire ensued following which Shyamlal was arrested. “Fifteen cases are registered in Madhya Pradesh, eight in Chhattisgarh and 61 in Maharashtra against Shyamlal, and the three States have announced rewards of INR 300,000, INR 500,000 and INR 600,000 respectively,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Tiwari said.
