The Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), destroyeda weapon manufacturing unit and a training camp of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) following an exchange of fire at Irapalli village under Pamed Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on February 12, reports The New Indian Express. The detection of the Maoist camp was made by the 204th Battalion of COBRA force during an anti-Maoist operation in the area. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of CRPF said, “The area touched upon by CoBRA troops is considered as the bastion of CPI-Maoist. This is the first time the operation of this magnitude was launched in such stronghold area. The troops busted a Maoist training camp and a gun factory machine used for making bullets, weapons/bombs. The place was covered by hills from the three sides. During the gunfight that continued for over an hour, the Maoists used automatic weapons and high explosive bombs fired from Under Barrel Grenade Launcher.”
