Police register Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in connection with the armed demonstration and distribution of leaflets and posters by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in Ayyankunnu Grama Panchayat (village level local self-government institution) in Edapuzha in Kannur District of Kerala on June 19, reports Malayala Manorama on June 22. Police have confirmed that the demonstration was carried out by a group consisting of cadres identified as CP Moiteen, Jisha, Ramesh and Santosh, who had earlier reached various houses in the border villages. A fifth member suspected but not confirmed. The Police have also destroyed the posters of Maoists.
