A local militant associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) identified as Aetimad Ahmad was killed in an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and militants in the orchards of Ganopora Arshipora area of Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on May 28, reports Daily Excelsior. A joint team of J&K Police, Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched an operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. The hiding militants fired upon SFs as they approached towards the suspected spot, triggering an encounter. SFs have recovered one AK-47 and other ammunition was recovered from the possession of slain militant. He was active since March 26, 2021 and was involved in several cases, said Inspector General of Police (IG) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.
Separately, the militants fired at a joint team of SFsin Warpora area of Sopore in Baramulla District of J&K in India on May 28, after which they escaped from the house forcing the SFsto launch searches in the area.
