India and Oman discussed ways to bolster strategic and security cooperation and collective measures to counter terrorism as well as condemned all forms and manifestations of terrorism at the ongoing eighth edition of the India-Oman Strategic Dialogue being held in New Delhi on January 18, reports awazthevoice.in. Major General Idris Abdulrahman Al-Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Sultanate of Oman, is visiting India at the invitation of Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Adviser, National Security Council Secretariat of India to take part in the Eighth India-Oman Strategic Dialogue. Both sides stressed the need to work jointly to fight the menace of terrorism. Sources stated that discussions were held on a wide range of issues of mutual interest including bilateral strategic and security cooperation besides defence and regional security. Both sides reiterated the importance of preserving maritime safety and security in the region. During the discussions, representatives of India and Oman discussed that the expansion of terrorist propaganda, misuse of new and emerging technologies, arms and drugs trafficking and abuse of cyber space for recruitment, fundraising and disinformation have serious security implications for the region and need a coordinate response.
