The hearing of the case of a suspected terrorist, Mohamed Ameen, which was scheduled by the Criminal Court to be held on August 2, was canceled due to administrative issues, reports Rajje.mv. The next hearing is scheduled for October 2. The previous hearing on August 27 was rescheduled as the defense hired a new lawyer to represent their case. Ameen is the first Maldivian to be included under the United States of America’s list of terrorists under the Office of Foreign Affairs Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury. The summary of the case is to be held by the court on the 29th of October and a verdict is to be announced towards the end of October or the beginning of November 2021.
