A Forest Ranger, identified as – Rathram Patel (56), was hacked to death by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in Kondronji village under Jangla Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on September 11, reports The Pioneer. The Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj Patilingam said the Maoists abducted him and took him to a school in the village and hacked him to death. The deceased was posted at the Indravati Tiger Reserve as a Ranger of the Bhairamgarh Forest Range. He was from Bhairamgarh town in Balodabazar District in the State. “The Ranger had gone to the village to distribute remuneration for a road built by villagers. Two Forest Guards had accompanied him but they managed to escape," Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlochan Kashyap said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Maoists expelled 13 villagers including members of two families from Palamdagu village in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh to migrate to another village - Polampally under Polampally Police Station limits in the District, after accusing them of being ‘Police informers’ on September 11, reports The Pioneer. The Maoists held a ‘jan adalat’ or kangaroo court where allegations of spying were imposed on the family members. A decree was passed to expel all of them from the village.
