The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) along with the Army arrested three terrorist associates affiliated with the Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on August 25, reports Daily Excelsior. The Police and Army launched an operation to intercept two terrorist associates who had procured a consignment from an unidentified individual (suspect) in Kupwara. "The individuals were traced to be moving towards Shatmuqam with instructions received from Laskar-e-Taiba commander Ghulam Rasool alias Rafia Rasool, originally a resident of Chandigam Lolab and now based in PoK [Pakistan Occupied Kashmir]. The arrested individuals were identified as Zubair Ahmad Shah Peerzada and Peerzada Mubashir Yousf, both residents of Shatmuqam," a JKP spokesperson said in a statement. The statement reads that the Security Forces (SFs) successfully arrested the suspects as they attempted to flee. "Five hand grenades and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Initial investigations suggest that the duo had been given the assignment of selecting local targets who are involved in disseminating government schemes in the area. They had also shared photographs indicating potential targets with their handlers," it added.
Kupwara Police, along with 47 Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar), acting on reliable information, established a joint checkpoint in the general area of Dragmullah Shalpora in Kupwara District on August 25 and arrested a suspect identified as Zahoor Ahmad Khan, reports Daily Excelsior. A vehicle was also intercepted, and upon searching the vehicle, one hand grenade was found concealed beneath the left front seat. Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Security Forces (SFs) have busted a terror module in Bandipora District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) with the arrest of two suspects, including the wife of a slain terrorist, reports Daily Excelsior on August 26. A Police spokesman said that based on specific input about the movement of a hybrid terrorist, a checkpoint was established in the Dardgund area in Bandipora District on August 25 and Shafayat Zubair Rishi, a resident of Nesbal Sumbal, was arrested with a pistol, a pistol magazine, eight rounds, and other incriminating material. During his questioning, the accused disclosed that he was on his way to collect a cache of arms and ammunition from a woman identified as Munira Begum, the wife of slain terrorist ‘commander’ Yousuf Choupan, who was also arrested.
