An exchange of fire between Security Forces (SFs) and Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) took place in Bokaro District of Jharkhand on June 29, after which the Maoists retreated into deep forests, reports outlookindia.com. Acting on a tip-off, SFs were conducting a combing operation inside Dak Sadam Forest on the foothills of Lugu Pahari in Mahuatand Police Station area, when Maoist cadres spotted them and opened fire, following which the encounter started. However, the Maoists made a hasty retreat into deep forests, leaving behind daily use items, Bermo, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Satish Chandra Jha said.
