A man was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) planted at a roadside in Lara Bandagi area of Mamund tehsil (revenue unit) in Bajaur District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 27, reports Dawn. Israr Khan, a Public Relations Officer (PRO) of local Police, said that the victims were going to a nearby area when the IED, went off, killing Itbaar and injuring Attaur Rahman and Khalil Khan. The vehicle was destroyed in the explosion.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, identified as Haji Akbar, was shot dead and a civilian sustained injury when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire in the Sarband area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 28, reports The Khorasan Diary. He was on his way to duty at Hayatabad when armed men intercepted him. “He was not in uniform and there is a pedestrian injured as well”, said Police.
The vehicle of a Station House Officer (SHO) was targeted in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 28, reports The Khorasan Diary. The SHO survived the attack while the vehicle was severely damaged, said Police.
A Girls' school was burnt down by unidentified persons in Shakhimar village of Razmak tehsil (revenue unit) in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the night of May 23, reports The Khorasan Diary. Local said unidentified persons entered the building of Golden Arrow Public School in Shakhimar village in the night and set fire to the entire school. Due to the fire, the furniture, ceiling fans, computers, books, educational certificates and other items were burnt to ashes. The State of the Art Girls School was built as a result of the joint efforts of the Pakistan Army and a local community based organisation, Shakhimar Welfare Society in which more than 500 female students were studying. Thought this incident took place on May 23, however, due to the safety of some staff affiliated with the school the incident reporting was withheld on their request.
