A bandh (shutdown) called by Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand) on May 24 citing murder of one of their cadres partially affected Bhojpur District of Province No. 1, reports The Himalayan Times. Few people were seen walking by while shops are closed owing to the ‘bandh’ declared by CPN-Maoist-Chand. Tirthraj Ghimire, a cadre of CPN-Maoist-Chandhad sustained injuries in a clash with the Police on May 21 at Tyamke Maiyum Rural Municipality of Bhojpur District. Ghimire, who was injured with a bullet on his leg, was taken to Dharan’s BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. He died during the course of treatment. Meanwhile, members of the CPN-Maoist-Chandclaim that Ghimire was taken under control and killed. They are demanding a fair investigation into the incident.
