On June 5, the UN Security Council (UNSC) pursuant to Resolution 1988 (2011) lifted travel restrictions on four Taliban leaders, who are serving the interim administration in Afghanistan, reports globalvillagespace.com. According to a brief notification by UNSC, the lifting of travel restrictions was approved in the case of Abdul Kabir Mohammad Jan, ‘deputy prime minister’; Abdul-Haq Wassiq, ‘intelligence chief’; Noor Mohammad Saqib, ‘minister of Hajj and religious officers’; and Sirajuddin Jallaloudine Haqqani ‘interior minister’. The restrictions were removed for their visit to Mecca, Saudi Arabia where they will perform the annual Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj, the notification added.

Security Forces (SFs) arrested a total of nine Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres from different places in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on June 9, reports etvbharat.com. Eight Maoists have been arrested from different areas under the Usoor Police Station area. Apart from this, one Maoist was arrested in the Naimed Police Station area. The Bijapur Police said that the Maoists, who have been arrested from Usoor and identified as Sona Kunjam (40), Anda Kadti (30), Mangu Madkam (24), Santosh Kadti (25), Sona Muchaki (22), Hadma Kadti (27), Suresh Madkam (28), and Devendra Muchaki (25), have been involved in violence and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions. "All these eight Maoists have been active in Bijapur as Jan Militia members. They have been involved in the incident of damaging the Usoor Awapalli road. Apart from this, they have allegedly put-up pamphlets and banners regarding the Maoist bandh," the Bijapur Police said. The Maoist arrested from the Naimed area has been identified as Avlam Aaytu (49), and he was involved in the incident of an attack on Police personnel in Bijapur and the Naimed area.

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘zonal commander’, identified as Shambhu Ganjhu alias Ravi Ganjhu alias Ravi ji, carrying a cash reward of INR 1 million on his head, was arrested by the Police from Jhalkapat hilltop area under Ghaghra Police Station limits in Gumla District of Jharkhand on June 8, reports The Times of India. Ganjhu, a resident of village Humbi under Tandwa Police Station limits in Chatra District, told the Police that he holds the rank of ‘zonal commander’ and was moving in the area to extort money for development projects and monitor the movements of forces. Gumla Superintendent of Police (SP) Shambhu Kumar Singh said the Police received information that a squad, led by Maoist ‘regional commander’ Chhotu Kherwar alias Sujit ji, was active in Kedli, Dirgaon, Karasili, and Jhalkapat villages under the limits of Ghagra Police Station. The squad aimed to extort money from development projects and keep tabs on Police movements. A rucksack containing articles of daily use and five printed Maoist pamphlets were seized from him, SP Singh added.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on June 9, 2024, released a report detailing 15 attacks on polio vaccination teams in the province in 2024, resulting in the deaths of 13 Policemen and injuries to 36 others, reports AAJ News. According to the report, the majority of the attacks occurred in Bannu (4), Bajaur (3), and Tank (3), while single attacks were reported in Khyber, Lakki Marwat, Mardan, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan. The CTD report highlights the severity of the situation in Bajaur, where nine Policemen were killed and 30 injured due to attacks on polio teams. In Bannu, two Policemen were killed and three injured, while one Policeman each was killed in South Waziristan and Tank.
