At least 18 Taliban militants were killed when fighter Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets bombed their hideouts in Orajzai Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on March 14, according to Daily Times. The political administration officials said that PAF jets targeted six Taliban hideouts in Upper and Lower Orakzai. The AFP news agency reported that houses owned by two ‘commanders’ had also been destroyed. An administrative official said the houses were also being used as “training centres”. A government girls’ high school was also damaged in the bombing. Locals said the Government was preparing for a “grand operation” against the Taliban in the agency, as additional troops had been deployed at in Lower Orakzai and Security Forces (SFs) had sealed off all main routes leading to Orakzai Agency.

At least 65 persons were killed, including women and children, and 110 persons injured, as two suicide bombers blew themselves up through political offices, just seconds apart from each other, in Yakka Ghund tehsil (revenue unit) of Mohmand Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on July 9, according to Daily Times. The first bomber, riding a motorbike, hit the main boundary wall of the political offices of the Yakka Ghund tehsil, while the second attacker, driving an explosives-laden coach, hit the main offices, which also included a sub-jail in the premises. The dead included five khasadars (local tribal Security Force), two political moharrars (reader) and five members of a family, while over 100 shops and more than two dozen vehicles were destroyed in the explosions. The bomber rammed the vehicle, as hundreds of tribal elders had gathered around the office of Rasool Khan, the Mohmand assistant political agent, for a meeting.
