A 20-year-old youth, identified as Omais Rashid Bhat who was critically injured after allegedly being thrashed by militants on March 8, died in the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on March 22, reports Daily Excelsior. Omais Rashid Bhat was abducted and later tortured by militants for his alleged links with Security Forces (SFs) at Quimoh in Kulgam District on March 8. He was found in an unconscious condition next morning (March 9) at Batpora and immediately rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to SKIMS.

Armed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants injured three civilians and abducted an inmate after barging into a civilian house in Hajin in Bandipora District on April 2, reports The Hindu. A Police official said four militants of the LeT barged into the house of Farooq Ahmad Parrey at 10:10 p.m in Hajin. "The militants used knives and guns and caused grevious injuries to Parrey's wife, daughter and brother," said the Police. The injured were identified as Rafeeqa, Neelofar and Hilal Ahmad Parrey. Rafeeqa has "serious" firearm injury. "Militants used sharp weapons to injure others," the Police said. The Police said the militants also abducted Muntazir Ahmad Parrey, who is a son in law of the house owner. "Efforts are on by the police to trace out the abducted person," said the Police spokesman.The police said Mr. Parrey's son Muzzafar Ahmad Parrey alias Muzz Nata was killed by militants last summer (2017). Meanwhile, the Police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) into the incident. "An investigation has been set into the motion," said the spokesman.

Police on April 3 recovered the body of a youth, who was abducted by the suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants on April 2 before leaving his three family members injured at Hajin area of Bandipora District, reports Daily Excelsior. Body of Muntazir Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmad Parrey was found near a bund on the outskirts of Hajin area in Bandipora District. Police said that during the investigation, it has come to notice that local militant Mohammad Saleem Parrey has played a major role in the killing of Muntazir. “Five foreign terrorists affiliated with LeT, Abu Muslim, Hubaib, Khalid, Abu Hamza and Haider are also involved in the killing”, the spokesman added.

Militants abducted a man and injured his father in Hajin town of Bandipora District on April 4-night, reports Daily Excelsior. A spokesman, in a statement, said that militants barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat in Hajin around 11.15 pm and beat up the inmates. They abducted both Gaffar and his son Manzoor Ahmad Bhat. However, Gaffar managed to escape from their custody despite suffering an injury. He has been hospitalised, but his son Manzoor is still with the militants. A massive manhunt to trace the abducted person has been launched.

Some locals on April 6 spotted the headless body of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat (25), son of Abdul Gaffar Bhat at an orchard near Bonkhan Mohalla in Hajin and accordingly informed the local Police. Immediately, a Police team reached the spot and recovered the body. The father-son duo were abducted around 11:45 pm on April 4-night. The militants, believed to be affiliated with LeT, barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat at Hajin in Bandipora and started beating up people before abducting father-son duo. However, Abdul Gaffar Bhat escaped despite being fired upon and suffering injuries.

Sources said that on June 14-morning at around 9 am Army men from 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) camp at Shadimarg in Pulwama stopped a private vehicle and asked the driver to drop the soldier in Shopian. When the vehicle reached near Kalampora, militants stopped the vehicle and abducted the soldier. The soldier, believed to be very close to Major Shukla of 44 RR, who was injured in an encounter that saw the killing of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) ‘commander’ Sameer Tiger on April 30, 2018, was abducted at Kalampora village of the Pulwama District. Later, the soldier’s bullet riddled body was found in Gusoo Pulwama in the evening.

Police said militants in the intervened night forcibly abducted a civilian and later killed him in a brutal act of terror at Pulwama in Pulwama District. HM later released two separate videos in which their militants are seen indiscriminately shooting at Nadeem from point blank range. In one of the videos, the militants, who are not visible, are commanding Nadeem, who is crouching on the ground, not to look at them.
