Three militants were killed on the Line of Control (LoC) at Khari Thrayat in Nowshera sector of Rajouri District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 1, reports Daily Excelsior. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported about the incident, in which two Army personnel were killed in the encounter that followed during an infiltration attempt by suspected militants while Pakistan army violated the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) on the LoC. The Army said Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Police launched joint operations in entire Nowshera sector to trace and eliminate the militants, who were suspected to be Pakistanis and had infiltrated into this side from the LoC for specific action like targeting defence installations and civilian areas. However, their plan was foiled by the troops who engaged the militants in the gun battle. Further, in past about one week, 13 Pakistan Army personnel have been killed in retaliation by the Indian troops during Pakistani CFA violations on the LoC, Army said.

Two members of a family, including a 10-year-old girl, were injured in overnight shelling by the Pakistan army violating the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) along the Line of Control (LOC) in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on April 15, reports Daily Excelsior. A mortar shell from across the border hit the house of Nazir Hussain at Lamibari village in Rajdhani area in Manjakote sector, resulting in injuries to two persons. The officials said, the injured Rafiq Khan (70) and Sonia Shabir – were rescued by a Police party headed by Station House Officer (SHO) of Manzoor Kohli Police Station amid intense shelling and shifted to District hospital Rajouri.

In a major retaliatory action by the Indian Army targeting forward defence and civilian locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, at least seven Pakistani troopers were killed and three others injured on April 30, reports Daily Excelsior. Number of Pakistani posts and bunkers were damaged. “Pakistan army had brought militants to the terror launch pads located close to their posts on the LoC across Nowshera, Mankote and Mendhar sectors of Rajouri and Poonch districts and resorted to shelling and firing on Army posts and civilian locations with a view to give covering fire to the militants,” sources said. There were reports that the militants who had been brought to launch pads fled to their bases following strong Indian reply to Pakistan shelling and firing.

Pakistan troops violated the CeaseFire Agreement (CFA) by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on December 31, reports Daily Excelsior.Defence spokesman said, at about 1515 hours [IST], Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with Small Arms and shelling with Mortars along LoC in Nowshera sector in District Rajouri.Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the firing, he added.
