The report says that the RAB and BDR personnel had tipped off the militants of the impending decision to dismantle the camp and on December 26 the ATTF militants moved into the forest areas in Kalenga tea estate under Sylhet district, opposite Kamalpur subdivisional town in Tripura’s Dhalai district.

A regional leader of the Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP- Janajuddha faction) identified as Monir Talukder alias Moni was killed in 'crossfire' on January 17 during a shootout between police and PBCP cadres at Mongla sub-district in Bagerhat. Police sources said that the slain cadre was arrested from Baniashanta brothel at Mongla on the same day. Two guns, seven gun cartridges and four rifle bullets were recovered from the site of the encounter. Two constables were also injured during the shootout.

A regional leader of the Janajuddha faction of the Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP), Mohammad Akhter Hossain, was killed in crossfire between his accomplices and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel at Baoishona village under Naragati Police Station in the Narail district at midnight on February 16. RAB sources said that Akhter was arrested from the Savar area of capital Dhaka on the same day and was leading the troops for recovery of arms when PBCP cadres opened gunfire. On March 10, an explosion was reported from Daulatpur bus stand in the Khulna city injuring two suspected cadres of the Purba Banglar Communist Party's (PBCP) Janajuddha faction, identified as Mizanur Rahman Tarafdar and Bellal Hossain. According to Daily Star, a regional leader of the Janajuddha faction of the Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP), Rafiqul Islam Baby, was killed in an encounter between members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and his accomplices on May 9 at Madhya-danga in Daulatpur of Khulna city. The extremist was the prime accused in journalist Harun-or-Rashid murder case. According to the report, he was arrested on May 8 evening at Jugnipasha village under Phultala sub-district of Khulna district. Two RAB personnel sustained bullet injury during the encounter. A pipe gun, a six-shooter gun, five bullets and two shells of used bullets were recovered from the spot.

According to Daily Star, army personnel arrested five activists of the United People Democratic Front (UPDF) from Amchhari areas in Kawkhali sub-district in the Rangamati district on May 15 and recovered firearms and other materials from their possession. The recovered firearms include one Light Gun and two other guns. The army also recovered VCD sets, cassettes, four cell phones, a tape recorder and receipt books used for collecting toll, the army sources said. The arrested persons, reported to be involved in extortion in the area, have been identified as Novel Chakma, Sumonta Chakma, Barun Chakma, Nirmol Chakma and Sushil Chakma.

Two top leaders of the Purba Banglar Communist Party-Marxist-Leninist (PBCP-ML) were killed in an encounter between the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and PBCP cadres at Singchhara village in Atrai sub-district of Naogaon district on June 16, according to Daily Star. The killed extremists have been identified as Abul Fazal alias Tusher, military commander for 'Ka' region comprising four greater Rajshahi districts, and Muktar Hossain alias Agun, the Atrai sub-district commander of the outfit.
