On June 28, the Taliban intelligence department stated that two militants ‘commanders’ identified as Abdul Samad and Hamza, were killed during an operation by Security Forces (SFs) in Nahrain District of northern Baghlan Province, reports Pajhwok Afghan News.
Four supporters of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘commander’ Nitesh Yadav, identified as Brijdeo Rajwar (65), Suresh Rajwar (58), Kamender Ram (35), and Mirtunjay Yadav (31), were arrested from Palamu District of Jharkhand on charges of setting fire to an earth mower and two tractors at a road project in Saraiyya in Muzaffarpur District of Bihar on June 26, reports The Times of India on June 30.
On June 29, 12 cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), including a couple who were carrying a reward of INR 600,000 on their heads, surrendered in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, reports Business Standard. Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Kumar Yadav said that two women were among the surrendered cadres who were active under the Bhairamgarh, Gangaloor, and National Park area committees of Maoists. Of the twelve, Munna Modiyam (23), a ‘platoon party committee member (PPCM)’ of the National Park area committee, was carrying a reward of INR 500,000 on his head, while his wife Janani Modiyam (23), who was the head of Chetna Naatya Mandli (CNM), the cultural wing of Maoists, in the same formation, carried a reward of INR 100,000 on her head. Another cadre, Raju Punem (29) was active as head of Pusnar DAKMS (Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangthan), a frontal wing of Maoists, and carried a reward of INR 100,000 on his head.The identities of other cadres are yet to be ascertained.
A civilian identified as Hamal Nazar was killed and his child was injured when armed assailants opened fire in the Khudabadan area in Panjgur District of Balochistan, reports The Balochistan Post on June 29. Sources stated that the shooting occurred while Hamal was taking his child to school.
On June 28, unidentified gunmen abducted 13 labourers from the Tator area of Tank District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province while they were repairing a 132KV transmission line, reports Dawn. However, District Police officer Abdus Salam Khalid said that nine out of the 13 labourers were rescued by the Police, and search for the remaining was continuing.He said that all the abducted labourers belonged to Punjab.
