Nine cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested from separate places in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on June 21, reports indiatvnews.com. Five of them were arrested from the forest near the Pusbaka village under Basaguda Police Station limits during an anti-Maoist operation, an official said. “Among them, Raju Oyam, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh [INR 100,000] on his head, was a member of the Usur Local Organisation Squad (LOS) of the outlawed Maoist outfit, while Bhima Madvi was vice president of Gaganpalli RPC (Revolutionary Party Committee) Jantana Sarkar (the people's government of the Maoists),” the official said, adding that the other three were lower-rung cadres. A cache of explosives, a `tiffin' bomb, a battery, spikes, splinters, gelatin sticks, cordex, and electric wires, as well as anti-government Maoist pamphlets, were recovered from their possession. Three more lower-rung cadres were arrested from Usur and one person from Tarrem Police Station limits, the official said. The Maoists held from Tarrem were involved in an incident of firing on a police team at a newly set up security camp, he added.
On June 21, Police arrested three terror associates, identified as Safder Ali, Mubashir Ahmed and Sajjad, in Draman village in Doda District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. All the accused are involved in providing food and logistics to Pakistani terrorists in exchange of money who executed attacks on June 11 at Chattergalla area in Kathua District and June 12 at Gandoh Tehsil (revenue unit) in Doda District in J&K in which seven security personnel were injured. Earlier, SATP reported about both the incidents.
On June 20, Police detained two individuals, identified as Ashiq Ali and Maskeen Ali, for aiding terrorists after their infiltration from the International Border (IB) in the Hiranagar and Kathua sectors to the mountains of Udhampur area and reached the Doda District, and Pir Panjal Range in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. The duo guided the terrorists to the house of a terror associate in the Sherpur village in Kathua District, where they stayed overnight. Earlier, SATP reported that an encounter broke out on the night of June 11, resulting in the death of one terrorist. On June 12, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was martyred, and a civilian was injured during the encounter in the Hiranagar Tehsil(revenue unit) of Kathua District in J&K.

Suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) posters were found in two places in Koraput District of Odisha on June 21, reports The Times of India. Police seized the two posters, one each from Almonda and Sarpali Chowk, under Bandhugaon Police Station limits. The banners, written in Telugu, contained warning messages directed at several local Biju Janata Dal (BJD) politicians and forest officials. The banners criticised the alleged delay in distribution of food items at anganwadi centres. The Srikakulam and Koraput divisions of the CPI-Maoist allegedly put up the banners.
On June 21, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet against four accused, including a juvenile, in a case related to the abduction and killing of a person in Chhattisgarh by armed cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), reports The Week. Kishan Kursam was abducted and killed by CPI-Maoist cadres who attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. The body was thrown on the Gorna-Mankeli road near Padiyapara in December 2023, a statement by the NIA said. In the charge sheet, NIA named Guddu Kursam alias Vishnu Kursam, Dula Kursam, and Sunil Mandvi alias Hunga Mandvi, and a juvenile, all hailing from Bijapur District. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), the probe agency said.
Five Army soldiers were killed in a blast from an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sadda area of Kurram District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 21, reports Dawn. A press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the IED exploded on a vehicle of the Security Forces (SFs) in Sadda. The ISPR said “33-year-old Havildar Aqeel Ahmed from Okara, 30-year-old Lance Naik Muhammad Tafeer from Poonch, 24-year-old Sepoy Anosh Rufun from Attock, 26-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan from Haripur and 29-year-old Sepoy Haroon William from Islamabad “made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom”.
