Security Forces (SFs), comprising a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the 45th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), recovered explosive material along with other items belonging to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) during an anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation in the forest area near Kawanar village in Narayanpur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on June 19, reports msn.com. On June 19 and 20, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at the premises of various absconders and suspects in a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) case, covering 19 locations spread across Giridih and Bokaro District of Jharkhand, reports The Times of India. The case was registered last year (2023) following the arrest of Krishna Hansda, a ‘regional committee member (RCM)’ of CPI-Maoist, from Lucio Forest area under the Dumri Police Station limts in Giridih.
A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Bichem Suklu Punem alias Sanjay (25), with a reward of INR 700,000 on his head, surrendered himself in Gondia District of Maharashtra on June 19, reports mid-day.com. Sanjay, a resident of Pusnaar village in Gangalur Tehsil (revenue unit) of the Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh, was reportedly active as a Naxalite [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] since 2013. He had served as the bodyguard of senior Naxalite Pahadsingh and was associated with Darekasa Dalam (armed squad) of the Maoists, the district Superintendent of Police (SP), Nikhil Pingle, said, adding that he was also involved in skirmishes with the Police in Murkutdoh and Tekatola under Salekasa Police Station limits. Additionally, he was in the Kosabi Forest range within Chichgarh Police Station limits, Pingle added.

On June 20, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and other leaders in Colombo and launched a Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), reflecting the deepening maritime security cooperation between the two countries, reports Hindustan Times. MRCC, established by state-run Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), will serve as the nerve centre and rescue operations at the sea. The main centre is located at the Sri Lanka Navy headquarters in Colombo, sub- centre in Hambantota and other seven unmanned installations at strategic locations across Sri Lanka’s coastline- Galle, Arugambay, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Kallarawa, Point Pedro and Mollikulam.

A leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Din Saeed Wazir Gangikhel, was killed in a gun attack by unidentified assailants in Sarrey Khowrey area of Birmal tehsil (revenue unit) in South Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 20 when he was returning from the funeral of slain leader Maulana Mirza Jan Wazir who succumbed to his injuries on June 18 in the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) attack on June 13, reports Dawn. Police said the attackers managed to escape. Maulana Saeed was a teacher at a private school.
One person, accused of blasphemy, was killed while three protestors sustained in Police firing as violent protest erupted in Madain Bazaar of Swat District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 20, reports The Khorasan Diary. The crowd caught the individual, subjecting him to physical torture before Police arrived and took him into custody at Madain Police Station. The protesters besieged the Police Station, demanding swift action against the individual. In an attempt to disperse the crowd, Police fired shots, resulting in at least three injuries. The situation escalated further as protesters set the Police Station ablaze. The alleged perpetrator was then dragged and subjected to torture and killed on the road.

On June 19 evening, explosions and the sound of intense gunfire were reported near a sensitive area close to Degree College Road in Turbat town of Kech District in Balochistan, reports The Balochistan Post. Ten persons, including a customs official and several residents from Punjab, were abducted by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) cadres from a picnic spot in the Shahban area of Zarghoon tehsil (revenue unit) in Quetta District of Balochistan, on June 19, reports The Balochistan Post. Eyewitnesses said the BLA cadres checked the identity cards of those present and initially detained fourteen individuals. After verification, they released four and took the remaining ten with them. Later on June 20, BLA claimed responsibility for the abductions. In a statement to the media, BLA ‘spokesperson’ Jeeyand Baloch said the BLA’s Fateh Squad conducted an intelligence-based operation in Shahban and detained ten individuals they identified as “suspicious. The detained individuals are currently undergoing interrogation,” Jeeyand Baloch said adding that “a detailed statement regarding this operation will be released to the media soon”.
