The report indicates that 19 percent of Afghan children are now engaged in labour, the highest rate globally. This troubling statistic reflects the compounded effects of poor governance, ongoing conflict, and widespread poverty under Taliban rule. The international organization Save the Children has noted a staggering 38 percent increase in child labor in the past year alone."The current situation of children in Afghanistan is extremely dangerous for the future," warns OCHA, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.
A woman, identified as D. Sunitha, sustained critical injuries when she stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) meant to target the Security Forces (SFs) on counterinsurgency operations near Karrigutta area of Venkatapuram Mandal (administrative sub division) in Mulugu District of Telangana on June 13, reports Telangana Today. Sunitha was among 100 villagers who ventured out deep into the forest area to visit the Beeda Mallana temple near Doli village. Villagers say Sunitha stepped on the IED, which went off, injuring her critically.
Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres opened fire at the plant built for the construction of the Banaras to Kolkata Motorway in Godra under the Sadar Police Station area in Chatra District of Jharkhand on June 11, reports prabhatkhabar.com. The Maoists carried out the incident to demand ‘levy’ (extortion money). Maoists came in the numbers of eight to ten late in the evening and intimidated the plant workers. A letter was handed over to the workers, and they were warned to start work only after paying the ‘levy’. While leaving, they fired to spread panic. The workers, as well as the villagers, are in panic due to the incident.

The trio was arrested by Police while they were attempting to solicit money from traders, in the name of ULFA-I. Baruah had joined ULFA-I in 2009 and Kalita and Baruah both were previously arrested in 2023 and 2016 respectively, but were released on bail.
On June 11, a National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) cadre identified as Khampai Wangsu was arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Police from Tinsukia District of Assam, reports India TodayNE. Wangsu was reportedly in the area to deposit extortion money collected from Longding in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Border Security Force (BSF) discovered explosives, including an improvised explosive device (IED), and a few more items in a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) hideout from under a rock cavity formed along the foothills of the Tulsi Dongri Reserve Forest area in Malkangiri District of Odisha on June 12, reports The Week. An IED weighing about 1.5 kilograms and packed in a steel tiffin, explosive powder weighing about 300 grams, a solar plate and wire, an iron cutter and some other items were recovered by the troops during a patrol, official sources said, adding that the troops destroyed the IED and a potential threat to Security Forces (SFs) and locals was neutralised.

On June 13, National Investigation Agency (NIA) charge sheeted seven Islamic State (IS) terrorists, identified as Mohammad Sulaiman alias Minaj, Mohammed Muniruddin, Syed Sameer, Mohammad Muzammil, Anas Iqbal Shaikh, Mohammad Shahbaz alias Zulfikar and Shayan Rehman alias Hussain, involved in IS Bellary module case for recruitment and radicalisation of vulnerable youths as mujahideen to operate as terrorist sleeper cells and fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), reports NIA. During the investigation, NIA seized explosive materials, sharp-edged weapons, digital devices containing propaganda magazines related to jihad, khilafat and fidayeen attacks published by various terrorist organizations. They were part of IS conspiracy to prepare 50 terrorist sleeper cells in each District of India by 2025 and had taken bayath (pledge of allegiance) from the co-accused Mohammad Sulaiman. They were charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.

Security Forces (SFs) carried out as many as 7,745 anti-terror operations from April 1 to June 10, Geo News quoting sources reported on June 12. The largest number of operations were carried out in Balochistan (4,902), followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) (2,702) and Sindh (142). Meanwhile, a total of 181 terrorists were gunned down in these operations of which 128 were killed in KP followed by 51 in Balochistan and two being killed in Sindh.
