Pashtuns constitute 90 per cent of the Taliban’s leadership, according to a study conducted by Middle East Institute, amu.tv reports on June 12. According to the study, Tajiks make up 5.4 per cent, Uzbeks 2.8 per cent, and Hazaras 0.7 per cent. The research, which analyzed nearly 1,200 Taliban leaders, also indicated that other ethnic groups such as Pashaee, Baloch, and Turkmen account for 0.3 to 0.5 per cent of the leadership.
On June 12, a ‘commander’ of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) identified asAbdul Monaf (26) was killed in a gunfight among unidentified ARSA terrorists in Block A/4 ofRohingya Camp-19 in Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar District (Chittagong Division), reports Rohingya Khobor. On June 12, a Policeman identified as Fareed Ahmed was injured in an ongoing gunfight with terrorists in the Kota Top area of Khrangal panchayat(village level local self-Government institution) in Bhallessa area of Gandoh tehsil (revenue unit) in Doda District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Greater Kashmir. Hindustan Times added that the District Police chief stressed that the terrorists involved in the Kota Top gunfight were different from those who attacked security personnel at Chattargala on Bhaderwah-Pathankot Road on June 12. This is the fourth terror attack in three days in J&K. The encounter started when a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir police and the Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Four Pakistani terrorists with the help of a local terror associate attackeda bus carrying Shiv Khori pilgrims on June 9 at Teryath area in Reasi District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. As of now, the identities of terrorists are not known. The Resistance Front (TRF), initially claimed responsibility for the attack but retracted its statement later. Punjab Police neutralised a trans-border narcotic smuggling network and arrested three smugglers, identified as Gursahib Singh, Sajan Singh and Satnam Singh along with eight kilograms of heroin, one .30 bore pistol and 26 cartridges in Amritsar District of Punjab on June 11, reports The Tribune. The Director General of Police (DGP) said as per preliminary investigations, the accused were directly in touch with Pakistan-based drug smuggler and were supplying heroin across the state after importing it from Pakistan and using drones to deliver the consignment.

The mercy petition of a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist, identified as, Mohammed Arif alias Ashfaq involved in Red Fort attack case of December 22, 2001, in New Delhi, resulting in the death of three Army personnel of Seven Rajputana Rifles, was rejected by President Droupadi Murmu on May 27, reports Hindustan Times. He was sentenced to death by the trial court in October 2005 for conspiring the attack with other three LeT militants Abu Shaad, Abu Bilal and Abu Haider who were killed in separate encounters. The decision on his death sentence was upheld through appeals by Delhi High Court and Supreme Court. Subsequently, Delhi High Court and Supreme Court confirmed the trial court’s decision in September 2007 and August 2011 respectively. Additionally, Supreme Court also dismissed a review petition filed by him on November 3, 2022, affirming the death sentence.
