Unidentified gunmen on April 12 shot dead nine passengers on N-40 Regional Corporations Development (RCD) highway after checking their identification from a passenger bus in the Nushki District of Balochistan, reports The Khorasan Diary. The gunmen blocked the N-40 Regional Corporations Development (RCD) highway that connects Pakistan and Iran and taken the nine passengers to nearby mountain region where they were gun down. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on April 13 claimed the killing of 11 bus passengers on Quetta-Taftan N-40 Highway in Nushki District of Balochistan on April 12, alleging that they were Government employees, reports The Khorasan Diary. The gunmen blocked the N-40 Regional Corporations Development (RCD) highway that connects Pakistan and Iran and taken the nine Punjabi passengers, after checking their identification, to nearby mountain region where they were gun down. The nine Punjabi victims were from Wazirabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujranwala Districts of Punjab, adds The Nation. Two other persons, said to be local, were killed during the gunman’s raid on bus. During the same attack on the same highway, a car that tried to force its way through the gunmen’s cordon was fired upon, killing two passenger and injuring three others.

A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The terrorists were identified as affiliates of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, adds The Khorasan Diary. A ‘spokesman’ of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, confirmed that seven militants affiliated with its Jaish-ul-Umari suicide squad were killed, also claiming casualties from the other side.

Seven persons including five Customs Intelligence personnel and two civilians, including a five-year-old girl, killed in terrorist attack in Saggu area of Draban Tehsil (revenue unit) in Dera Ismail Khan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 18, reports The Express Tribune. According to the Police, the Customs Intelligence personnel were conducting routine checking at Saggu area, when they came under intense gunfire from the terrorists, who were hiding in the nearby bushes. As a result, five Customs Intelligence officials and two civilians were killed. The dead personnel were identified as Shahab Ali Khan, Attar Alam, Akbar Zaman, Inayatullah, Muhammad Aslam of the Customs Intelligence, and civilians Safatullah and five-year-old Laiba Bibi. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a statement claimed the attack adding that attackers snatched weapons from the customs officials, adds The Khorasan Diary.

A press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the operation took place last night on the reported presence of terrorists in the area. “During the conduct of [the] operation, after intense fire exchange, three terrorists were sent to hell, while one terrorist was apprehended in injured condition, who has been identified as an Afghan national,” the ISPR said. Security Forces (SFs) killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 24, reports Dawn. In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an IBO was carried out in the area on the night of April 24 based on the “reported presence of terrorists”. “During the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists, as a result of which three terrorists were sent to hell, including terrorist ringleader Sohail Azmato and terrorist ringleader Haji Gul Zarkavi. Terrorists’ hideout was also busted during the operation,” the ISPR said. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants who had remained “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, added ISPR.

The victims, all below 30 years of age, included two youths less than 18 years’ old, hence without national identity cards (NICs). All of them were barbers, who owned barber shops in Mir Ali Bazaar, recently migrated to North Waziristan to pursue their trade. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a media statement, BLA ‘spokesperson’ Jeeyand Baloch stated that the STOS has secured all entry and exit points around the area, employing explosive mines to deter SFs. Additionally, the Fateh Squad has taken control of strategic locations in Mach city, including the Police Station and Railway Station, to closely monitor the movements of the SFs. The BLA statement claims that a unit of its Majeed Brigade has encircled the main camp of the SFs, preparing for a prolonged engagement. “The Fidayeen of Majeed Brigade will fight till their last bullet,” Jeeyand Baloch stated. A press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that a group of eight terrorists attempted to enter the Port Authority Colony but were successfully thwarted by SFs personnel. “Own troops employed for security responded immediately and effectively engaged the terrorists, and in ensuing fire exchange, all eight terrorists were sent to hell. A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives was also recovered”. The dead soldiers were identified as Sepoy Bahar Khan (35), a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan District (Punjab) and Sepoy Imran Ali (28), a resident of Khairpur District (Sindh). The Majeed Brigade of the BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. Located at the center of the city, GPA Complex has several offices related to the Gwadar Port Authority, law enforcement agencies, and staff houses, adds ARY News.
