In another incident, four terrorists looted over Rupees eight lakh cash from three employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Panjhai nullah near Shahdara Sharief in the Rajouri district and escaped. They also snatched the weapon and cartridges of the bank guard but did not cause any harm to the guard and two other bank employees. According to a media report, the cash was donation offered at the holy shrine of Shahdara Sharief and was being taken for depositing in the bank’s Gujjar Mandi branch. Meanwhile, a message, intercepted by police later in evening, indicated the involvement of the Al-Mansooran group in this incident.

Left-wing extremists––Naxalites––of the People's War Group (PWG) blasted a police picket in Bara village, Bhagwanganj police station-limits, Patna district and killed a personnel, on January 23-night. All 15 policemen at picket surrendered and the Naxals decamped with 16 rifles and a carbine. Reportedly, the Naxals severely beat up the policemen and had also videographed the entire operation, besides pasting several posters on the picket's walls. Five injured police personnel have been admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital. Reports said the PWG cadres were equipped with petrol bombs, hand grenades and sophisticated weapons. Talking to the media, Inspector General of Police A C Verma said, "Policemen continued to fight till their ammunitions were exhausted." State police chief R R Prasad added the Naxals took advantage of dense fog. He said, "The policemen in the picket offered resistance and fired… but nothing was visible."

On February 10, proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup (KYKL) terrorists laid an ambush near Leingangtabi along the Imphal-Moreh road in Manipur and killed five Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. Official sources said that the BSF personnel who were on routine patrol were attacked with sophisticated weapons at a spot some three kilometers away from the BSF’s Lokchao camp. The sources added that the KYKL also managed to snatch away three service SLRs (self loading rifles) from the injured personnel before escaping. Later, in a telephonic message the KYKL reportedly claimed responsibility for the killings and also claimed that the KYKL’s Lalhaba Tengol-1 had carried out the attack. They also claimed that three INSAS rifles, 12 magazines and 240 rounds of ammunition along with two grenades were taken away during the ambush. A massive search operation was going on in the area when last reports came in.

Quoting official sources, media reports said approximately 60 Naxalites, including a contingent of MCC women squad, attacked Kurhwa Tarh, Maini Jour, Raigania and Nayadih villages and looted an unspecified number of guns and 150 live cartridges. The Naxalites also looted three rifles and a gun. In protest against the killing, almost all markets of the districts remained closed on February 26. Local residents blocked the road near Golden Jubilee crossing in Robertsganj and set a bus afire. According to media reports, approximately 20 armed-Naxalites entered a stationary Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus in which police personnel were seated and abducted them. The police personnel were returning to the headquarters after providing security at a local annual fair. The Naxalites also snatched a 9mm revolver and a wireless set from the assistant sub-inspector. A search operation is on to track down the Naxalites. Meanwhile, Prakasam district police chief Charu Sinha said the Naxalites have not put forward any demand so far to release the abducted police personnel.
