Kashyap along with some other Maoists had killed three villagers in Kaknar area branding them as Police informer in December 2011. Ramau Ram Boga (22) and Kaliram Ram Boga (25) were arrested from Rasoli village under Bhanupratappur Police Station limits, Ram Kumar Komra (32) was rounded up from Tadoki Police Station area of the District. Meanwhile, a suspected Maoist conduit Rakesh Bhuarya (23) who was active in Dalli Rajhra ‘area committee’ of the CPI-Maoist, was arrested from Kacche outpost of Bhanupratappur Police Station limits of the District. Bhuarya allegedly played a crucial role in supplying ration, medicines and commodities to the Maoist camps located in deep forests in the region.

Kosa was included as the member of their frontal organisation Dandkarandya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, Malangir in 2012 and president of Tikanpal unit. Kosa’s main responsibility was membership drive which included holding meetings with villagers to convince them about the organisation’s ideology and plans, distribution and pasting of posters, Naxal [left-Wing Extremism (LWE)] literature and pamphlets in villages, road cutting, etc. Besides this, he also used to collect secret information about Police and forwarded it to the senior cadres and also committed crimes as per instructions of the senior cadres of the organization.
