National Investigation Agency (NIA) on January 12 arrested Naorem Premkanta Singh of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a key accused in an attack on Army convoy in 2015 in which 18 soldiers were killed, reports Times of India. According to NIA spokesperson, the militant was arrested in a joint operation with Manipur Police. A pistol and five live rounds were recovered from him. A militant identified as Naorem Premkanta Singh who was  involved in the 2015 Paralon ambush which killed 18 soldiers has revealed that the ambush party  was in India for five days after the attack, before they crossed over to Myanmar on foot, reports The Sangai Express on February 26. The militants were inside India from June 2 to June 9. According to interrogation details, the attack was carried out jointly by Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Khaplang faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K).  He also revealed that the militants crossed over to India from Munnan village. He stated that ‘A party of 10 cadres was already waiting. We were asked to don our uniforms and were given weapons. Our leader, Tamba, asked us to follow him and we were not briefed here. We walked the whole night and took only 5-10 minutes of break after every one hour of walk. We rested on June 3 to avoid detection’. After the ambush they walked continuously from June 4 to 7, and on June 9 crossed back to Myanmar. Naorem Premkanta Singh was arrested in January by National Investigation Agency (NIA). A high alert has been sounded in Tinsukia District following reports that two separate groups of militants have entered the District to attack Security Forces (SFs), reports The Telegraph on March 16. Tinsukia Superintendent (SP) Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta stated that there are reports of a group of around 22 armed militants from United National Liberation Front of West East South Asia (UNLFWESA) entering the District. Their last reported location is Nagadubi near Wara along the Assam-Arunachal border in the District (Tinsukia). There is another intelligence report of six armed cadres, five from United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) and one from Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), having entered the District and roaming the jungles of Bordumsa. During interrogation, the arrested individual disclosed that he is a trained cadre of KYKL and he joined the outfit during February 2007 through one Likpa of Wangu, who is a ‘captain’ in KYKL.
