A Press Trust of India report has indicated that the October 8-earthquake is understood to have caused massive damage to some terrorist training camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to central security agencies, camps of outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and Al-Badr had been damaged. Some of their camps were reportedly located within a radius of 10 kilometers from the epicenter of the quake. Sources said a wireless intercept of TuM stated that one of the outfit’s building near Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, had been damaged and some cadres were buried under it. The Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) training centre at Balakote and Batrasi, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s camp at Attock, Al-Badr’s at Oghi, LeT camp at Mansehra and recruitment camp of HM at Jungle-Mangal had also been damaged to a great extent. Addressing a press conference, on October 18, in Muzaffarabad, the earthquake-hit capital of Pakistan occupied Kashmir, President Pervez Musharraf stated that the Government would allow Kashmiris from across the Line of Control (LoC) to help in relief work. "We have decided this to enable the people to have linkages with their brethren across the LoC," he disclosed. He said in view of a lot of people on both sides of the LoC wanting to talk to each other and help out each other following the tragedy, the Government has also decided to allow mobile phone companies to start their service in the area. However, he said Pakistan cannot accept the Indian military coming from across the LoC. "I am extremely grateful to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who called me and offered assistance. We have accepted all assistance except military men coming across… There is a sensitivity here, we cannot accept the Indian military coming across the LoC on this side," said the president.
