At least six people, including three women and three children, sustained injuries on October 4 when unidentified assailants lobbed a hand grenade at the house of an associate of a prominent tribal leader inside the Khyber Society of Hub town (Hub District) in Balochistan, reports Samaa TV. The house which was attacked, belonged to Irfan Zehri, an associate of Mir Salahudin Zehri. Mir Salahudin Zehri is close aide of former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on October 5 said that it’s ready to engage in prisoner swap with Army, reports The Balochistan Post. According to a statement released to the media by the BLA, the group is ready to swap prisoners with Army. The statement read that the Senior Command Council of BLA has approved that in abidance with international conventions and established norms of the war, a process of prisoner swap can be initiated with Pakistani military. Earlier on September 25, 2022, BLA’s special force Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) reportedly carried out an intelligence-based operation near Zardaalo in Harnai District. In the said operation an official of Pakistan’s military intelligence and a JCO of Pakistani military were apprehended by the group. While, BLA’s statement expresses willingness to release detained Army officials in exchange of Baloch political prisoners.

An ‘anti-Afghan Taliban’ former Police officer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on October 10, reports Dawn. The assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Abdul Samad Achakzai who was riding a motorbike along with his brother. “Abdul Samad Achakzai suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot, while his brother remained unhurt. However, one passer-by suffered a bullet injury,” Manzoor Ahmed, a senior Police officer of the area said. Samad Achakzai was a Police commander in the previous Ashraf Ghani Government in Kabul. A former adviser to former Afghan president Ghani on public affairs, Akhtar Muhammad Badezai, on his Facebook page confirmed that Achakzai was a Police commander and served as deputy commander in Panjvai District of Kandahar Province till the Afghan Taliban captured Kabul in August 2021. Achakzai also served as Police commander in Urazgan Province. He was a close relative of General Abdul Raziq Achakzai, who was the chief of Kandahar Border Police. After the fall of the Ghani Government, Achakzai escaped from Kandahar and moved to Quetta.

Three people were killed and six others injured in a bomb attack targeting two vehicles in the mountainous area of Qabu in Mastung District of Balochistan on October 14, reports Dawn. Levies officials said the vehicles were carrying the people who were returning after burying a man killed by unknown armed men in the Dasht area. An improvised explosive device (IED) planted at a roadside went off when the vehicles were passing through the area. A tribal elder, Mir Shahnawaz Bangulzai, was also in one of the vehicles, but he escaped unhurt in the attack.

According to details, Yusuf Badini, who sells rice near Kharan Bazar Chief Chowk, was asked by the FC personnel to parcel rice to the FC camp in the morning. He went to the FC camp with a boy who was working with him where the FC detained him and released the boy. Pishin Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yasir said that the assailants attacked the vaccination team in the Trat area of Pishin, killing the Policeman, identified as Constable Muhammad Hashim, who was deployed to guard the vaccinators. According to reports, SFs allegedly arrested two young men, identified as Umar s/o Ghulam Qadir and Allah Noor s/o Hassan Noor, and forcibly disappeared them. According to Umar’s family members, three days earlier, the SFs summoned Umar to the Rinduk FC camp in Kharan. “He went to the camp and we heard from him since – the FC has kept him incommunicado,” family sources added. While the other man Allah Noor was reportedly detained by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan. According to sources, last night CTD raided a house in Mashkay of Awaran District and took Allah Noor away. His whereabouts remain unknown since.

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was underway in Kaman Pass since October 30 to clear a terrorist hideout. "Security forces were heli-dropped near the suspected location of terrorists to cut the escape routes and clear the hideout. However, during the establishment of blocking positions, terrorists opened fire on the security forces" in which Sepoy Shafi Ullah and Sepoy Muhammad Qaiser were killed.
