Two rockets exploded in different areas of Quetta on March 22 night while the Quetta-Sibi train link was severed after insurgents blew up the main railway line, reports Dawn. The first rocket exploded on the roof of one of the studios of the Quetta station of Radio Pakistan at around 9:20 pm. Minutes later, another rocket hit the house that belongs to Tahir Mohammad Khan, a former federal minister and chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, near the Balochistan High Court building on the Ghalib Road. A senior official of the Radio Pakistan, Quetta, said that the blast did not affect radio transmissions, adding that all vital equipment and installations were safe. Rocket shrapnel damaged the boundary wall of the house besides damaging some electric supply lines, leading to sus-pension of power supply to the area. "It appears that a couple of 107mm rockets were fired from the western side of the provincial capital," a senior police official said. But the exact location could not be located.

A security man was killed and four others were injured in a gun battle between security forces and militants in the Lanjo Sighari area of Dera Bugti, on the Punjab-Balochistan border on Mrach 30, according to Dawn. Inter-Services Public Relation Director-General Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad confirmed the death of Frontier Corps (FC) soldier Ehsanullah. According to sources, militants also suffered casualties in the heavy fighting which lasted for several hours and security forces arrested 60 militants, five of them in injured condition. They said the security forces had launched a search operation in Lanjo Sighari near RD-109 of Pat Feeder, after receiving information about presence of camps of militants in the village. When security personnel reached the village, militants opened fire on them. The security men retaliated and later cordoned off the area. "The security forces and militants used heavy weapons, including rockets, mortar shells and machine guns," the sources said, adding that over a dozen militants had been killed in the fighting. However, it was not officially confirmed. Nawabzada Baramdagh Bugti, a grandson of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, claimed that over 12 Bugti tribesmen, including women and children, were killed in the fighting in Lanjo Sighari. He told journalists in Quetta that security forces from Sindh and Punjab also took part in the operation in which helicopters were used for bombing.
