Four persons, including a paramilitary soldier, were killed and four others sustained injures in an incident of firing in Suni area of Khuzdar District in Balochistan on December 3, reported Daily Times. Frontier Corps (FC) vehicles were going to Khuzdar from Surab in Kalat District of Balochistan when unidentified assailants ambushed vehicles near Sunni area entrance of the Khuzdar District. A soldier died on the spot while four others received bullet injuries. FC soldier retaliated and killed all three assailants.

10 persons, including five Policemen, were injured when a suicide bomber in an attempt to attack the Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani blew himself up at the Railway level crossing on Saryab road of Quetta in Balochistan on December 7, reported Daily Times. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi - al Alami (LeJ-al Alami) claimed responsibility for the attack. The spokesman of the outfit, Abdullah Jhangvi, called at the Quetta Press Club and vowed to carry out such attacks in the future as well. Meanwhile, the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) denied its involvement in the attack. The head and legs of the suicide bomber were found from the incident site, from which it seemed the bomber was an Uzbek national.

The Inspector General of Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan, Major General Ubaidullah Khan warned that violation of Pakistan’s airspace by NATO aircraft and helicopters would not be tolerated. Addressing a gathering of tribal elders during his visit to the border town of Chaman, he said that Pakistan would not allow NATO aircraft and helicopters to violate its airspace. Later, talking to journalists Major General Ubaidullah Khan denied that the missing people were in the custody of FC Balochistan. “No missing person is in custody of FC Balochistan,” he said, adding that the allegations were levelled by the people who were involved in cases of cross-border terrorism and were getting financial assistance and weapons from their “foreign masters”.

The Frontier Corps (FC) personnel arrested Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief, Shahzain Bugti, along with his 27 personal guards at the Buleli checkpost in Balochistan and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from his motorcade on December 22, reports Daily Times. Shahzain was returning from Chaman, a border town with Afghanistan, after offering fateha (a short prayer too begin a religious obligation) for the late Jilani Khan, an Awami National Party (ANP) leader, when his motorcade was stopped for identification and search, which Shahzain reportedly refused. The FC personnel smashed the windscreen of the vehicle and dragged him out forcibly. The weapons and ammunition recovered from the vehicles included two 14.5 mm anti-aircraft, 14 explosive material boxes of anti-aircraft guns, 42,000 rounds, landmines, two grenade launchers, 43 Kalashnikovs and 16 illegal vehicles.
