Pakistan on February 9 dismissed as baseless propaganda the Indian charges that it has links with the Al Qaeda and other extremists. "We have neither any links with them (al-Qaeda) nor they have roots in Pakistan," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said. In a statement, he condemned the Indian leadership for continuing a propaganda against Pakistan which he said was aimed at diverting international attention from the "indigenous" Kashmiri struggle against New Delhi rule. On the same day, India's National Security Adviser Birjesh Mishra told a conference in Munich, Germany, that Pakistan was bringing extremist forces into the region's political equation.

A pamphlet calling for a Jehad against US troops in Afghanistan and their local supporters was reportedly left at the press club in Chaman on February 10. According to a media report, the hand-written leaflet in Pushtu language is traced to the hitherto unknown Tanzeem al-Fatah Afghanistan (Afghanistan Victory Organisation). It carries a Fatwa (edict), which it claims has been issued by Islamic scholars in Afghanistan. Reportedly written on behalf of the former Afghan Premier Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, it calls for Jehad against Americans as "they have killed thousands of Taliban and Arab Mujahideen".

The February 7 report quoting senior Afghan officials and diplomats in Kabul had said that "Members of Pakistani intelligence are helping remnants of the Taliban to regroup more than a year after they were ousted from power." Foreign Office spokesperson, Aziz Ahmad Khan, told the BBC "Pakistan’s impeccable record speaks volumes about its veracity with international fraternity and latest in this regard is clear… The allegation is absolutely baseless. Pakistan’s record in this regard is clear."
