Kathmandu Post has reported that the Maoists continue to carry out abductions, extortion and intimidation in the Baitadi district. According to Himalayan Times, Maoist insurgents have sent hundreds of relatives of security force personnel to the Baitadi district headquarters to bring their kin back to the villages. Those who 'disobey the order' will have to reportedly pay Rupees 50,000 to 300,000 to the Maoists. The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) is reported to have said that despite their three-month long unilateral cease-fire, the Maoists have abducted dozens of civilians in different parts of the country in the last few days.
