The driver and owner of the hired vehicle were inside the vehicle during the arson but managed to jump off the burning vehicle, which was destroyed in the incident. Debendra Poudel, a UCPN-M leader said "Even today (Sunday), we defied the bandh (general strike) organizing motorcycle rallies across the country. We will continue defying bandh from Tuesday onward, too." Nepali Congress (NC) leader Minendra Rijal said "Nepali people themselves will foil the bandh, as it is entirely against their will." A minor identified as Abhisekh Lama was injured when unidentified assailants hurled a petrol bomb at a micro bus ferrying passengers in Kumaripati of Lalitpur District during the transportation strike called by the poll-opposing alliance of 33-parties on November 12 (today), reports Nepal News. Police said that the petrol bomb could have been lobbed at the moving micro bus from a street corner for defying the transportation strike. However, the vehicle didn’t catch fire as the petrol bomb was quickly doused.

The turnout registered record levels, Election Commission said, exceeding what was seen during the 2008 elections. In the capital Kathmandu, and some constituencies in Tarai, the polling exceeded 80 per cent. “Today’s historic election has been very successful,” said Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety at a press conference in Kathmandu. In a meeting held at UCPN-M leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara’s residence in Kathmandu on November 24, Communist Party Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Baidya) Chairman Mohan Baidya suggested UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to retract from its decision of boycotting the Constituent Assembly (CA), reports Kantipuronline.com. Following its loss in the CA election, the UCPN-M approached its breakaway faction with the proposal to collaborate in post-poll political activities. The CPN-Maoist-Baidya has agreed to forge a ‘working alliance’ with the UCPN-M on a condition that the latter sticks to its earlier decision to boycott the poll results entirely. Baidya said that his party is ready to forge an alliance with Dahal if he corrects the line of the party. Dahal, on November 22, had announced that his party would stay away from the CA process if the Government and the other parties do not agree to go for a review of the poll process.

Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxists Leninist (CPN-UML) Vice-chair Bidhya Bhandari said her party's first priority was constitution drafting and that special effort would be made to bring both the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) and the Mohan Baidya-led Communist Party Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Baidya) into the constitution making process. Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala said as constitution making was the major agenda of the moment, the NC will not be giving priority to Government formation and other issues. The discussion was held at the residence of the party President Sushil Koirala. Following the meeting, central member Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said the party has stressed on forming a consensus Government under its leadership, as it emerged the largest party.
