Seventh division commander of the Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) Prakash Khatri today joined the Matrika Yadav-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (Matrika-led CPN-Maoist), reports Himalayan Times. Along with Khatri, five Unified CPN-Maoist cadres joined the Matrika-led Maoist party. An active cadre of the PLA since 2004, Khatri, company commander of the Badaipur-based Lisnegram Brigade, said, “I left the People’s Liberation Army as it has deviated from the revolutionary path.”

The first review meeting of the Directive Committee for Rehabilitation of Disqualified Combatants found that of the total 2,396 disqualified combatants, 1,400 did not get in touch with the committee since they were discharged in the first week of January, 2010.

A meeting of the party's standing committee on June 28 concluded that the Government has been relegated to a 'caretaker' position after the three-party pact of May 28 and that it does not have the authority to present the budget. He was charged of murdering Maoist leader Nankau Godiya for which he had served a one-and half-month jail term about three years ago. Yadav claimed, the assailants were Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (Unified CPN-Maoist) cadres and had fired him with an intention to kill. All 55 VDC secretaries in Parbat submitted their joint resignation letter to the local development officer on Tuesday, reports said. They said they were asked by the group to quit immediately. Likewise, the same group has issued similar threats to VDC secretaries of Dolakha District. Secretaries of 21 out of 51 VDCs in the District handed over a joint resignation letter to local development officer Shankar Bahadur Thapa. In the past couple of weeks, VDC secretaries of a number of Districts including Myagdi, Banke and Dhading resigned en masse citing lack of security.
