All shops, business establishments, educational institutions, offices, petrol filling stations, cinema halls and others functioned normally in the entire District. There was no bandh in Kishenji’s native, Peddapalli town and also other revenue division headquarters such as Jagtial, Sircilla, Huzurabad and other mandal (administrative unit) headquarters.

Nearly 25 Maoist cadres were present at meeting in Terapalli on December 7, which is about five kilometres from Annavaram Police Station in Visakhapatnam District. Maoists warned the Governments in the State and the Centre against going ahead with bauxite mining in the Agency area and said they would fight to protect the interests of the tribals. A 45-year-old unidentified Maoist leader with his head covered with a cloth addressed the tribals for more than one hour and urged them to join PLGA, the Maoist military wing, in fighting the brutal Government. He warned Police informers and threatened them with dire consequences. No big leaders of east division or Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) were present at the meeting.

The Union Cabinet on December 7 approved the proposal to extend the Integrated Action Plan (IAP), a scheme meant for carrying out development works in Naxal [Left-Wing Extremism]-affected Districts through local administration - to 18 more Districts with Andhra Pradesh getting one-third of it as "peace dividend", reports The Times of India. The scheme will now be implemented in 78 districts across nine Naxal-affected States from the next fiscal (2012-13). The latest approval will extend it to six Districts (Vishakhapatnam, East Godavari, Warangal, Karimnagar, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram) in Andhra Pradesh; three Districts each of Jharkhand (Ranchi, Giridih and Khunti) and Odisha (three including Ganjam and Nayagarh); two each in West Bengal (Bankura and Purulia); Bihar (Munger and Kaimur) and Uttar Pradesh (Mirjapur and Chandauli).

The members of the Galikonda Area Committee of the CPI-Maoist is suspected to be behind the blast that took place at around 10.30 am when the Security Force (SF) personnel were coming from the Pedavalasa area, sources said. No one was injured in the incident. This is the first time after a gap of a year that the Maoists triggered a landmine in the District.

Documents pertaining to the 11 years after the formation of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) and the CMC revealed that the Maoists are planning to convert PLGA into a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and guerrilla warfare into mobile warfare to make Dandakaranya and Bihar-Jharkhand liberated areas. The Maoists also vowed to avenge the killing of politburo member Kishanji, and said that he had worked hard to build up guerrilla squads in Dandakaranya.

Sources said that the Maoists set ablaze the vehicles to obstruct the road works taken up under the Left Wing Extremism Affected Districts Development Scheme. The Maoist had warned the contractor earlier not to take up work on the road that connects Bhadrachalam with Venkatapur and Bhoopalapatnam in Chhattisgarh. According to sources, around 60 Maoists, 20 of them armed, from the neighbouring state entered the district, poured kerosene over the vehicles, and set them ablaze.

Reddy spoke in favour of controversial projects like the Posco, Vedanta, bauxite mining in the Araku valley of Andhra Pradesh and thermal power station at Sompeta in Srikakulam District - issues allegedly being used by the Maoists to spread their wings - saying, "these are not issues...they are development opportunities."
