Left-wing extremists—Naxalites—of the People’s War Group (PWG) blasted four private buildings in two separate incidents in Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts, on December 1. In the first incident, an estimated 15 armed Naxalites of the Rachakonda Rythanga dalam (squad) destroyed the office and residential building of a private estate developer in Raipur district, Ranga Reddy district. Police sources said the Naxalites were making arrangements on the village outskirts to hold a meeting in connection with the third anniversary of founding the PWG’s military-wing, the People’s Guerrilla Army (PGA). On seeing special the police parties combing the area, the Naxals opened fire, which the police returned. The exchange of fire between them lasted for 10 minutes, and the Naxalites managed to escape. Police later recovered two claymore mines from the encounter-site.

According to a media report, left-wing extremists—Naxalites—of the People’s War Group (PWG) made an abortive attempt to blast Mandamarri railway station, Kazipet-Ballarshah section of South Central Railway, in Andhra Pradesh, on December 7. A 15-member group carrying two buckets full of explosives drew wires to some distance and attempted to blast the building. The explosives failed to explode, forcing the Naxals to abandon their plan. Although no loss of life or injuries has been reported, the Naxals set-ablaze office records and furniture, following the unsuccessful attempt. They also snatched two walkie-talkie sets from the railway staff and cut the telephone wire before escaping from the incident-site.

Reports said suspected left-wing extremists—Naxalites––of the Communist Party of United States of India, CPUSI (Dalit Bahujan Sramika Vimukthi) killed two of their leaders—‘squad commander’ and ‘legal squad leader’—in the dense forests near Rangapur village, Warangal district, on December 11, accusing them of masterminding a covert operation. Reports added that a group of Naxals of Eturunagaram Agency Area Committee went to Rangapur village and whisked away Allauddin and Ravinder to the nearby forests. They were reportedly killed after being ‘interrogated’ for about three hours on their alleged role in the November 11-Lenkalagadda encounter in which seven CPUSI Naxalites, including the Warangal district secretary, were killed. Later, the Naxalites reportedly stopped a Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus and sent the bodies in. The Naxalites also gave a letter to the bus conductor on the incident. The letter held the two slain Naxalites responsible for the Lenkalagadda encounter. The CPUSI State Committee had demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge into the incident.

According to media reports, the issue of Andhra Pradesh-based leaders of People’s War Group (PWG) Naxalites spreading their network to other States was discussed was discussed in detail. According to media reports, some of the officers pointed out that Naxalites hailing from Andhra Pradesh were at the helm of affairs in the PWG, which has a formidable presence in many other States such as Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal. They alleged that ‘dalam commander’ Naveen was responsible for her pregnancy at a younger age. Speaking on the occasion, district police chief R S Praveen Kumar said sexual exploitation of innocent tribal girls, who were made to join the Naxalite fold by the Janasakthi group, was inhuman and a heinous crime, which any civilized society would never think of. He called upon people to teach them a fitting lesson. He also appealed to Naxalite groups to allow women’s organizations with teams of doctors to check the health of these unfortunate girls who had been victimized by dalam leaders.

However, the Naxalites had to withdraw their plans of blasting the station when people resisted their attempt, official sources added.
