Senior officials said Potanical was allegedly the one who had transported explosive material to Ahmedabad to make bombs for the July 2008 serial blast. According to Crime Branch sources he was onthe run since nine years and was hiding at different places across the country till he was located by crime branch in Kerala. It is note worthy that Ahmedabad Crime Branch probing the July 2008 details blast case has arrested more than 74 alleged IM operatives inbred case while more than 15 including Abdul Subhan alias Taukeer, Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal are still absconding. Crime branch also sources said with the arrest of Potanical they would be able to exactly pin point the sources of explosives sued in making bombs for July 2008 serial blasts and for the 29 imploded bombs which we're found in Surat on 27th July 2008. NIA said in its chargesheet that the September 12, 2016 blast at Nellore court (Andhra Pradesh) was carried out by the outfit to avenge the "mental agony" suffered by Kashmiri Muslims for about two months when Section 144 (prohibitory orders by the government) was imposed in parts of the valley following the killing of Burhan Wani.
It said that the outfit carried out the August 1, 2016 Mysuru court (Karnataka) blast to avenge the hanging of 1993 Mumbai serial blast accused Yakub Memon and killing of eight alleged SIMI terrorists by Madhya Pradesh Police.
Similarly, Base Movement carried out the June 15 blast at Kollam court (Kerala) to avenge the encounter killing of Ishrat Jahan in Gujarat. They also wanted to avenge lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq in Noida (Uttar Pradesh).
According to the NIA chargesheet, the members of the outfit also felt that Muslims lodged in jail were being illtreated and courts were handing them a raw deal. The chargesheet has been filed against Nainar Abbas Ali, Dawood Sulaiman and Samsun Karim Raja on May 24. Abbas and Sulaiman formed the outfit on January 26, 2015 at Madurai. Two members of the outfit, S Shamsudheen and Mohammad Ayub, are yet to be chargesheeted.
